Prepare an objection clearly
Swiss-Büro structures possible grounds and creates a cautious draft for you to review before sending.
Everyday example
Example with fictional details
You receive a decision and believe evidence you previously submitted was overlooked. Before drafting an objection, compare the reasons given with your records.
What to check
- Record the decision’s name, date and reference.
- Identify the disputed point and the supporting evidence.
- Check the appeal instructions for the deadline, recipient and required form.
Extend the deadline?
An objection against a tax assessment decision must be submitted in writing within 30 days of service.
This statutory deadline cannot be extended.
An extension for filing your tax return does not extend the objection deadline.
Already missed it?
Reinstatement is possible only under specific conditions. You must prove an obstacle for which you were not at fault and, within 30 days after it ends, request reinstatement and submit the objection. The official tax guidance explains the conditions and evidence required.
Always check the appeal instructions in your own decision.
Next step
State the change you request and the evidence supporting it. Attach relevant documents and check the permitted submission method: ordinary email may not be sufficient. Seek qualified help if you are unsure how to proceed.
Separate facts from unanswered questions
Gather the complete decision and all enclosures. List separately the wording you do not understand, the information you believe is inaccurate and the documents supporting your view. Copy the reference and date from the original. This turns general disagreement into specific points that can be checked.
A draft should state your request clearly, connect each point to relevant evidence and leave unresolved questions visible. Do not invent facts or include a legal provision you have not checked. Review the decision’s own instructions about the recipient, format and deadline. If an important issue remains unclear, obtain professional help before treating the draft as a finished formal objection.
No legal or tax advice. Verify deadlines and amounts before sending.
